Wow. It's been a good long while since I blogged. Since it's pretty much just Angie that reads this I'm not going to go into tons of detail with updates. Here's the highlights or lowlights depending on how you look at it. Let's start off where I left off shall we?
I had a great time in Jersey last summer. It went by too fast. We didn't get up to NYC, but we're going to spend a bunch of days there this coming summer. Mike, Kitty, & I did get to Delaware though, which was a blast. Did you know Delaware is tax free for ALL shopping?!?!? lol. Yeah and they have a bunch of outlets in Lewes, which is right across the Delaware River from NJ when you take the Cape May-Lewes Ferry. We also went to Smithville which is this cute little faux historical town not too far from Mike's apartment. I almost bought this amazing Celtic cross in this lil Irish shop, but I held myself back... now I totally wish I had splurged! I also got lobster-esk burned while spending the day in Ocean City. I was tomato red! One of the funnest nights I had while in Jersey was was the swimming/grill out/bonfire at Mike's parents house. It was Mike's whole family plus a bunch of other people. It was so much fun swimming in their pool at night and then warming up and bullshitting around the fire. I hope we do it again this summer!
Anyway, after Jersey this summer I went to RA (Resident Assistant) training here at the college for two weeks before the beginning of term. First semester didn't go so hot. I was doing really well until about midterm. I had been going home every other weekend when I wasn't on-call to visit with mom. Well, in the end of November mom had a visit with her doctor who told her that it was time to think about hospice and putting her things in order. So in the beginning of December she went on in home hospice, which is where they come in to your house and check on you everyday and give you baths and such. Needless to say, with all this happening college wasn't my number 1 priority. Mom passed away on New Year's Eve.
I decided to keep being an RA second semester. It's actually going really good this term. We stopped the one week rotation (which is where you're on duty & rounds for a week at a time & it's exhausting). I'm also not doing overnight Front Desk Hours which really helps. Anyway, in addition to the 4 regular classes I'm taking, I'm also in the middle of getting my CNA (Certified Nurse Aide.) It only lasts a month, but it goes for 8 hours a day two days a week & then a week of clinicals. I'm also taking a class, Developmental Psych, the two weeks after Spring Term ends, that's 2 weeks of classes 5 days a week.
As for after that class and this term, I'm looking into either switching my major to get my LPN or going to Job Corps to get it.
Well, that's about it. Oh, my best friend Ashley G. had another baby. Another boy named Mason. He's a cutie. We actually got tattoos a few weeks ago together. I'll post a picture of mine in this blog. It's on the top middle of my back, right below my neck. Ashley's is on her wrist & her's is all purple & darker.
Hope all is well in your life!
